Joe’s Camera Celebrates a Major Milestone in African Storytelling
In 2025, Joe Lategan proudly launched When Rivers Run Dry — the long-awaited follow-up documentary film in his celebrated Kgalagadi series. This visually immersive and emotionally powerful work captures the raw beauty, untamed wildlife, and deep photographic soul of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, told through the eyes of a seasoned wildlife photographer with over three decades in the field.
The film builds on the international success of This is the Kgalagadi, which reached over 1.5 million viewers and earned a Silver Award at the International Tourism Film Festival Africa (ITFFA).
Joe is also honoured to announce that his body of work continues to gain recognition:
He has received two additional ITFFA 2025 awards, bringing his total to three prestigious accolades this year, to be formally awarded on 6 June at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Re-capture South Africa with the camera.
"Capture, share, inspire" encapsulates the multifaceted impact of good photography as well as beyond mere visual representation. It advocates creating communities of photographers to create a compelling visual identity for municipalities / destinations / routes that highlights its unique attributes, fosters community pride, and attracts visitors. It also emphasizes the enduring value and influence of photographers in documenting and shaping our world, and by highlighting their unmeasured contributions to the economy and society.

Re build SA with the camera.
Photographers have the means to better utilize their talents to assist in sharing the beauty of South Africa. Photographers form a major direct and indirect driver of tourism but have never been measured, recognized nor rewarded in any way effectively. This portal aims to do just that Through;
1. Creating a community of national and international traveling photographers with a common goal, to capture and share South Africa's beauty. 2. Creating a platform/community of products, destinations, accommodation, suppliers of equipment and services to photographers that recognise photographers as a important part of their clients base and reward them accordingly. 3. Providing information and platforms relevant to Photographers and tourism operators to best motivate and capture the beauty of SA and share or use such images to uplift the tourism sectors of the economies on route, in towns or specific destinations such as; 1. Creating photographic competitions, 2. Exposing the worthy elements of people or by people, products, services, opportunities, natural beauty to as wide as possible.
